چکیده

iv Conclusions: The advantages of PDD’s higher sensitivity in detecting bladder cancer have to be weighed against the disadvantages of a higher falsepositive rate. Taking into account the assumptions made in the model, strategies involving biomarkers and/or PDD provide additional benefits at a cost that society might be willing to pay. Strategies replacing WLC with PDD provide more life-years but it is unclear whether they are worth the extra cost. A review of biomarkers in the diagnosis of bladder cancer

Bladder cancer is among the ten most common cancers and the ten main causes of cancer-related deaths in the world. Currently, bladder tumors are diagnosed and followed up using a combination of cystoscopy and cytology. In addition, bladder cancer often recurs and can progress if not closely monitored after initial treatment. Constant monitoring of the patient with cystoscopy, which is an invasi...

Cytology and Urinary Markers for the Diagnosis of Bladder Cancer

Primary detection and follow-up of patients with non–muscle-invasive (NMI) bladder cancer (BC) is done by urethro-cystoscopy (UCS) and, in most cases, cytology. Many urine-based tests have been developed, and in general, these tests have a higher sensitivity than cytology but a lower specificity. In this review, we assessed the value of urine tests for screening, primary detection, and surveill...

Diagnostic approach for cancer cells in urine sediments by 5-aminolevulinic acid-based photodynamic detection in bladder cancer

Bladder urothelial carcinoma is diagnosed and followed up after transurethral resection using a combination of cystoscopy, urine cytology and urine biomarkers at regular intervals. However, cystoscopy can overlook flat lesions like carcinoma in situ, and the sensitivity of urinary tests is poor in low-grade tumors. There is an emergent need for an objective and easy urinary diagnostic test for ...

Methylation Markers for Urine-Based Detection of Bladder Cancer: The Next Generation of Urinary Markers for Diagnosis and Surveillance of Bladder Cancer

Cancer of the urinary bladder is the fifth most common neoplasm in the industrialized countries. Diagnosis and surveillance are dependent on invasive evaluation with cystoscopy and to some degree cytology as an adjunct analysis. Nomuscle invasive bladder cancer is characterized by frequent recurrences after resection, and up to 30% will develop an aggressive phenotype. The journey towards a non...

Pnm-17: Cost Effectiveness of Human Papillomavirus Testing in Cervical Cancer Diagnosis

Background: Epidemiological studies are shown robust association between human papillomavirus (HPV) and cervical cancer. From 1990 HPV was known as a necessary but insufficient cause of cervical invasive cancer. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the cost effectiveness of HPV test in cervical cancer screening. Materials and Methods: This is a systematic review article; the newest scienti...
